Who's the Sore Loser Now?

"I didn't vote for him but he's my president, and I hope he does a good job" - John Wayne, after hearing John F. Kennedy had defeated Richard M. Nixon

I would prefer people took this approach to politics today, particularly given the stream of racist remarks and comments that Obama is a closet socialist (he's actually much more a center-left candidate than anything else).

Keith Olbermann used this quotation in one of his Special Comments, which is not as relevant, but still gets the point across:

Amen.

Check Out This Balance!

I find it amusing that so many people are now finding their civics books and speaking out about the grave dangers of having one party control the Congress and the White House.

I find it particularly amusing that for the past eight years the Bush administration had few checks and balances, allowing it to rip civil liberties to shreds, detain/torture people indefinitely and drive the economy into the ground.

Where were these people for all of this?

I'm sorry, but the idea that a lack of checks and balances is now suddenly a problem is pure bullshit.

Period. Gin, checkmate, bingo and yahtzee.
